New multifamily project marks Carr’s continued residential expansion and a major milestone for sustainable development in Arlington
Carr Properties, a leading owner, operator, and developer of premium office and residential properties, today announced it received approval from the Arlington County Board to move forward with construction for the residential redevelopment of 3033 Wilson Boulevard in Clarendon, Virginia.
Located across from the Clarendon Metro station and in one of Arlington’s most walkable and vibrant neighborhoods, 3033 Wilson represents Carr’s on-going expansion into residential real estate. The project will transform an outdated office building into a newly developed, best in class, multifamily property, consisting of 309 units, 6,000 square feet of ground-floor retail, a landscaped courtyard, and luxury amenities.
3033 Wilson will prioritize sustainability by preserving the 160,000-square-foot below-grade parking structure, which will allow for a significantly lower carbon footprint of the development. It will also feature all-electric systems powered by heat pumps, with 98% of its total source energy consumption derived from electricity. The building will target LEED Gold certification and participate in Arlington’s Green Building Incentive Program.
“This development marks a further expansion of Carr’s residential portfolio and underscores our commitment to sustainable development,” said Austen Holderness, Chief Development Officer of Carr Properties. “By transforming this obsolete office building into a vibrant new residential community, with environmentally conscious design, this project will add to the urban fabric of Arlington and add much needed housing.”
Designed by architecture firm SK+I and interior design firm Edit Lab by Streetsense, 3033 Wilson will include a modern fitness center, coworking lounge, rooftop pool deck, clubroom, and 324 below-grade parking spaces – 13 of which will be equipped with EV charging capabilities.
3033 Wilson is anticipated to break ground in early 2026, with construction expected to be completed in 2027. The project team also includes landscape architect ParkerRodriguez, civil engineer Bohler DC, and land-use counsel, McGuireWoods.
